Kitchen Remodel Costs in Bergen County: What Actually Drives the Price

Kitchen Remodel Costs in Bergen County: What Actually Drives the Price

"How much does a kitchen remodel cost?" is the question we get asked more than any other, and the honest answer is that square footage tells you almost nothing on its own. Here's what actually drives the price up or down.

Whether you're moving plumbing and electrical

Keeping the sink, range, and refrigerator in their existing locations is significantly cheaper than relocating them. Moving a sink across the kitchen means new drain lines, new supply lines, and often opening up a wall or floor to do it.

Cabinet choice

Stock cabinets, semi-custom, and full custom cabinetry aren't just a style preference — they're one of the biggest cost swings in the entire project, often more than countertops and appliances combined.

What's underneath the existing floor

Older Bergen County homes sometimes have subfloor issues or outdated wiring that only becomes visible once demo starts. We flag likely risk areas during the estimate based on the home's age, but some things genuinely can't be confirmed until the walls are open.

Structural changes

Removing a wall to open a kitchen to the living room sounds simple until you find out it's load-bearing. That means an engineer, a beam, and permitting — all of which add real cost but also often add real value to the home.

Appliance tier

A basic appliance package and a professional-grade range and built-in refrigerator can be a five-figure difference by themselves, independent of everything else in the kitchen.

How we quote it

We walk the space, ask what's actually changing versus what's staying, and give you a number based on your kitchen — not a generic per-square-foot estimate that falls apart once demo starts. Every project is managed directly by Jack from the first walkthrough to the final punch list.
